New Zealand is redesigning their national flag – and they are crowd sourcing ideas.
You can see a mosaic of 10,000+ designs submitted in their national contest. I didn’t inspect every submission, but the vast majority seem to follow the guidelines of designing city flags that I covered in a previous post.
From all the submissions, they have selected five semi-finalist designs. In 2016, voters will rank these five choices in a binding referendum.
Personally, I think that the semi-finalists don’t demonstrate much range of choices, but that’s just me. What’s your opinion?
Maybe more cities should take this crowd-sourced approach and develop a better flag.
