Public and social sector marketing and activism relies on many types of feet-on-the-street promotion including public information campaigns, get-out-the-vote efforts, community meeting attendance and volunteer recruitment. One method of promoting a cause or viewpoint is going door-to-door. What if no one’s home? My free door hanger design template for PowerPoint helps you create your own door hangers so that you can leave information with the household or business.
Many online printing companies can print your door hangers for you. However, you might not have
- the budget to pay an outside service.
- the patience to figure out their design tools.
- the time to wait for them to print and ship.
With my door hanger design template, you can make door hangers inexpensively using equipment you probably already have, namely PowerPoint and a printer.
Rely on your brand, organizational narrative, page layout, infographics and other skills when designing your door hanger. You can also draw on free photos to support your message.
In addition to PowerPoint and a printer, you’ll need card stock paper, preferably 110-pound paper. If your printer can’t handle cardstock paper, you can go to your local print shop such as FedEx office and they’ll print them for you. You’ll also want an Exacto or craft knife to cut the slits to accommodate the door knob.
My door hanger design template makes two door hangers for every 8.5 x 11″ sheet of card stock paper. You can print on both sides if you want, or just one. Leaving the back blank gives you the opportunity to write a personal note on any door hanger that you leave.
We are social beings. Getting out on the streets to promote your cause helps you create the social connections you need to build consensus and carry the day. Print some door hangers and start ringing doorbells!
